Your bike should be well maintained and in good running order with suitable ‘road gears’ and brakes for big hills.

August in Asturias you can expect warm sunshine but not too hot due to the Atlantic maritime influence.

Fitness To Ride The Picos
This is a level 3 cycle event.
When you arrive, you should be capable of riding comfortably upto 120km in a day and/or used to riding distances upto 100km over hilly terrain. You should have ideally also completed a previous multi-day cycle tour, however not essential.
Hill gradients in the Cantabria can touch into double figures at times so good leg strength will be desirable!
