Airport transfers are not included but can be arranged on request – please note, this will be an optional extra with a supplementary fee (POA).

Climate & Kit

We can expect warm, sunny weather, however we should expect slight temperature drop and cool conditions on the mountains (800m+) and possible precipitation at altitude – Remember to bring layers – not heavy coverings. A full kit list will be issued in your ‘Joining Instructions’ document after your application. We will be glad to discuss any aspect of kit and your bike with you, please call us anytime with any questions.

The Pyrenees offer long, sustained climbs and technical descents requiring a well-suited road bike. Choosing correctly can dramatically improve your riding experience. See our guide to the best bike for European cycling holidays for detailed equipment recommendations.

Fitness & Training

This is a level 4 cycle event. You will be capable of riding comfortably upto 120km in a day and/or used to riding distances upto 90km over hilly terrain – minimum.
We have a ten week cycling plan which should help see you well on your way to tackling the slopes of the Pyrenees, however joining a trip like this, training is all about hill stamina and cycling on gradients – so find hills and keep riding.
If you have any doubt as to your fitness regarding participation in this event please give us a call and we will be more than happy to chat with you.

Your Bike

You should arrive with a good spec road bike. Ideally a make and model of good reputation and provenance. Gears for cycling gradients of up to 15% and brakes to keep you safe on the down hill! Your wheels again should be good quality and all braking surfaces checked before arriving. Tyres should be 100% EXCELLENT condition – any doubt, install new ones before arriving.
If you have any questions regarding the suitability of your bike please contact us – more than happy to help.
Bike rental by third party partner is available on request.
